Our Objective

Our Objectives

1) At MJDC, our work is guided by a clear set of objectives that drive our commitment to justice, equity, and human rights for all migrant and marginalized communities in canada and abroad.

2) Promote Access to Justice, facilitate legal support, education, and advocacy to ensure that migrant workers and vulnerable populations in Canada and abroad can access fair and effective remedies when their rights are violated.

3) Combat exploitation and abuse, expose and challenge exploitative practices, such as wage theft, unsafe working conditions, and corporate impunity, that disproportionately affect migrant workers and racialized communities in Canada and abroad, through advocacy, education and lobbying.

4) Advance corporate accountability, hold businesses and institutions accountable for human rights violations through policy advocacy, community monitoring, and alignment with international standards like the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

5) Raise awareness, support and educate communities, stakeholders, and policymakers on migrant rights and social justice through public campaigns, workshops, and partnerships with grassroots and faith-based organizations.

6) Foster policy reform, influence local, provincial, and national policy to improve protections for temporary foreign workers and undocumented individuals in Canada, ensuring laws reflect the dignity and rights of all people.

7) Support community resilience and empowerment, create safe spaces and support networks, and facilitate leadership training for migrants and vulnerable communities in Canada. Through these efforts, participants are equipped to become champions of their own rights and active leaders in promoting environmental and climate justice within their communities.

8) Promote inclusive development, and ensure that development efforts are grounded in equity, sustainability, and community participation.

Our Core Values

At the Migrant Justice and Development Coalition (MJDC), our mission is fueled by unwavering values that define who we are, how we work, and what we stand for. These principles guide our actions as we support migrant communities and confront injustice across Canada and beyond.

1) Justice
We believe justice is a universal right. We advocate for fair treatment, equal protection under the law, and the dismantling of systems that perpetuate inequality and exclusion.

2) Dignity
Every human being deserves to be treated with respect and compassion. We uphold the dignity of migrant workers and underserved populations by defending their rights and amplifying their voices.

3) Solidarity
We work in deep partnership with the communities we serve. Through collaboration and shared struggle, we build collective power and advance lasting change.

4) Accountability
We demand accountability from governments, corporations, and institutions—and hold ourselves to the same standard. We measure impact, remain responsive to those we serve, and commit to justice in practice.

5) Empowerment
By equipping individuals with knowledge, tools, and support, we foster self-advocacy and leadership. Empowered communities are at the heart of sustainable justice.

6) Inclusion
We challenge all forms of discrimination and work to ensure that everyone—regardless of race, gender, status, or ability—is welcomed, valued, and heard.

7) Transparency
We operate with openness and honesty in our decision-making, finances, and communications. Transparency builds trust, strengthens partnerships, and reflects our respect for the communities we serve.

8) Integrity
We act with consistency, honesty, and ethical responsibility in everything we do. Our commitment to integrity means doing the right thing—even when it’s hard—and staying true to our mission.
